Transkription: Torn apart in the middle…
Incident ID: XM-akg43vhxzkv566ls Location: [to339more42gwe] Source: Field Agent @Takumi
[Recording Begins: Surveillance Device Active - Timestamp 17:45] [Voices: Makoto Midorikawa, Hank Johnson, and Agent Takumi]
H: The Anomalies brought me here, Makoto, but I didn't expect to find Devra. This changes everything. Something is very wrong.
M: Devra? Devra Bogdanovich? She.. died, I thought. I thought you said you were there when she passed away.
H: That's right. I was. I... was there. And yet, the women in the next room. That's her. I know it's her. Alive. Unconscious, but alive. I can't explain it. Not yet, anyway.
T: I don't understand. Are you telling me the woman in that room is the same Dr. Devra Bogdanovich, the XM researcher, who died seven years ago? Can you confirm the identity?
H: The same, or, the same but not the same. I just don't know yet. I want her to wake up. I want to talk to her. What I'd give to talk to Devra again even just for a minute.
M: There was another woman... I saw her when I looked through this watch. Her name is Akira. She ran off without a trace, and now, Takumi, you saw it too - the red Portal Anomalies - they all started the moment the two of them... I don't know how to describe it... arrived. If Devra's here in the hospital, and there's an Anomaly near her, then maybe the one named Akira is the source of the Anomalies out there.
T: That makes sense. The red Portals-I saw them spreading in the field. And now, I'm seeing an identical phenomenon here at the hospital. If your theory is right, if she's still creating these disturbances, we might be able to use the Anomalies to follow her.
M: Hank. We need to figure out what's going on here.
H: I can't leave here. I can't leave... this woman. I don't know if she is Devra, but... I can't leave her.
M: Hank. The doctors said they don't know what's wrong with her. I know you miss her, the Devra you knew, but maybe the best way to help this woman is to find out what's really going on.
H: This phenomenon with the Portals, Makoto. I've seen this before. Teil me what you saw when you looked at the watch, Makoto.
M: My ability lets me see into the past Memories through the lens of an object. But what I saw, Hank. Those memories didn't make sense. I was being pulled in two directions. Like the memories were torn apart in the middle. And these two women, Akira and Devra, they were on both sides of that tear.
H: It's possible that this Devra and this Akira represent some kind of break in reality
M: A break in reality is the only way I could describe it.
H: The phenomenon you're seeing with the Portals. I've seen it before. It's connected to an Artifact that was being studied. There's an Artifact... it unlocks this... kind of behavior in XM. I've seen this pattern before, in Glyph sequences carved into ancient relics. They speak of forces bound together. Creation and destruction, order and chaos. MACHINA is one of those forces, but it's incomplete. If Akira's actions have awakened its counterpart...
T: You're saying there's something else out there? Another artifact?
H: Maybe. Or maybe Akira's actions have triggered a cycle that's bean dormant for centuries. Either way, these anomalies aren't just coincidences-they're part of a larger system. One we don't fully understand.
M: Then let's find her. If she's left a trail of anomalies, we can use it to track her movements.
H: Agreed. But if this is what I think it is, we're dealing with forces that don't care about Factions or our understanding of XM. This is bigger than us, and it's going to get worse before it gets better.
T: If that's true, then someone needs to stay here. Devra's presence, the anomalies around the hospital--this is ground zero. I'll report everything back to the Resistance. If there's a way to stabilize this, I'll find it.
M: Stay sharp, Takumi, And if you pick up any trace of Akira, don't hesitate to follow her.
